WHAT DOES AIR ACADEMY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, DBA AIR ACADEMY CREDIT UNION (AACU) AND ITS AFFILIATED CREDIT UNION SERVICE ORGANIZATION DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Why?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Social Security number and income
  • Account balances and payment history
  • Credit history and credit scores

How?

All financial companies need to share members’ personal information to run their everyday business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their members’ personal information; the reasons Air Academy Credit Union and its affiliated Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) chooses to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

What We Do

How does AACU and its affiliated CUSO protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

How does AACU and its affiliated CUSO collect my personal information? 

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • open an account or show your driver’s license
  • make a wire transfer or apply for a loan
  • use your credit or debit card

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.


Why can't I limit all sharing? 

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for non-affiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

What happens when I limit sharing for an account I hold jointly with someone else? 

Your choices will apply to everyone on your account.

Definitions: 

Affiliates:

Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Our affiliates include financial companies such as AACU and its wholly-owned Credit Union Service Organization Air
    Academy Service Corporation
Non-affiliates

Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies. AACU and its affiliated CUSO does not share with non-affiliates so they can market to you.

Joint Marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you. Our joint marketing partners include:

  • financial service providers
  • insurance companies
  • credit card companies

Permissions

Contact List

Allow access to the device’s contact list to obtain contact phone number and email address to easily send money via Zelle with known recipients. Permission is granted within the app and can be chosen to not allow.

Camera

Allows access to the device's camera to obtain images for mobile deposit usage which allows checks to be deposited into your account via image. Permission must be granted within the app or app settings to allow access to your device's camera.

Location

Allows access to location your geolocation to assist in preventing potential fraud and provide directions to AACU locations.

Access to external storage

Allows access to files/media on the device to send in attachments via secure messaging.

Images

Allows access to stored images on the device to allow documents to be sent through secure messaging. As well as to submit images of checks for mobile deposit.

There also is information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by Air Academy Credit Union. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, and access times. This information is used by Air Academy Credit Union for the operation of its online services, to maintain quality of the services, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Air Academy Credit Union web site and mobile app.


Use of your Personal Information

Air Academy Credit Union may use any Personal Information:
  • To respond to your inquiries and fulfill your requests;
  • To inform you about important information regarding our online services, products or other service for which you apply or may be interested in applying for, or in which you are enrolled;
  • To inform you of changes to terms, conditions and policies and/or other administrative information regarding your interactions with us, your accounts, or services that you use or in which you have expressed an interest;
  • To deliver marketing communications that we believe may be of interest to you, including advertising or offers tailored to you;
  • To personalize your experience with our online services;
  • To allow you to apply for products or services (e.g., to pre-qualify for a mortgage, apply for a credit card, or to open an investment account or other financial product) and evaluate your eligibility for such products and services;
  • To verify your identity and/or location (or the identity or location of your representative or agent) in order to allow access to your accounts, conduct online transactions and to maintain measures aimed at preventing fraud and helping to protect the security of your account and Personal Information);
  • Collected through aggregation services, that we provide or use, in order to consolidate your financial account information at one online location and to understand what products or services may be of interest to you and to present you with offers;
  • For business purposes, including data analysis audits, developing and improving products and services, enhancing our online services, identifying usage trends and determining the effectiveness of promotional campaigns;
  • For risk control, for fraud detection and prevention; to comply with laws and regulations; and to comply with other legal process, regulatory and/or law enforcement requirements; and

To allow you to utilize features within our online service by granting us access to information from your device such as contact lists or geo-location when you request certain services.
