AACU is a not-for-profit, member-owned credit union. Profits return to members through lower fees and stronger rates instead of shareholder dividends. Every member holds a small ownership share, opened through a Primary Savings Account on day one. Check your eligibility and open a membership today.

Membership at AACU reaches far beyond military families. Educators, first responders, small-business owners, and residents connected to hundreds of local employer groups all qualify. Family members of current members qualify too. Review the full eligibility list and start your application in minutes from any device.

AACU branches sit across two regions: Colorado Springs, Monument, and the South Denver Metro area, including Parker, Castle Rock, and Highlands Ranch. Members also reach over 35,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide. Find your nearest branch or ATM and stop in for account help or a quick deposit.
Deposits at AACU carry federal insurance through the NCUA, backed the same way FDIC insurance backs bank deposits. Coverage extends to at least $250,000 per depositor, per account type. Your savings, checking, and certificate balances stay protected. Open an account online and bank with confidence today.

Opening an account takes minutes through using our secure online application. You'll need a government ID, Social Security number, and an initial deposit to fund your new Primary Savings Account. Most applicants finish in one sitting. Open your Rewards Checking account now!

AACU offers checking accounts, savings accounts, home loans, auto loans, personal loans, youth accounts, and credit cards under one membership. Each product connects through a single online banking login. New members typically start with a checking account and add products as their needs grow. Compare checking options to find your fit.

Your choice depends on how you use your debit card each month. Frequent debit card users often prefer Cash Back Rewards, while members who keep a higher balance may prefer Cash Rewards' dividend rate. Members who want simplicity choose Basic Checking. Compare all three checking accounts side by side before you apply.

Yes, most personal banking tasks happen entirely online or through the AACU mobile app. Members open accounts, deposit checks, transfer funds, and pay bills without a branch visit. Loan applications and card management also run through the same secure login. Open a checking account online in a few minutes today.

Every personal banking product at AACU, from checking to auto loans, requires an active membership. Membership starts with a small ownership share held in a Primary Savings Account. Hundreds of employer groups, family relationships, and community ties qualify. Check your eligibility before you apply for any product.

Fund your account with an initial deposit to activate your Primary Savings Account and any checking product you select. Start your application and complete it in one sitting.

Cash Back Rewards Checking pays 10% cash back on up to $250 in monthly debit card purchases when you meet the account's qualifications. Cash Rewards Checking instead pays 1.25% APY on balances up to $15,000. AACU members pick one based on spending habits versus saved balance. Check your eligibility and open the account that fits.

Cash Back Rewards and Cash Rewards Checking both carry no monthly service fee and no minimum balance requirement. Basic Checking waives its $5 monthly fee once you maintain a $500 daily balance. Every option includes free eStatements and online banking. Review Basic Checking's fee details before choosing.

Yes, AACU lets you open any checking account entirely online through a secure application. You'll need a government ID, Social Security number, and a small opening deposit. Most members finish the process in one sitting from a phone or computer. Check your eligibility and start your online application today.

Missing a monthly requirement on Cash Back or Cash Rewards Checking simply means you skip that month's reward. Your account stays open with no penalty, and qualifications reset the next billing cycle. AACU designs these accounts so every month brings a fresh chance to earn. Review qualification details before you apply.

Cash Back Rewards and Cash Rewards Checking require no minimum balance to open or maintain. Basic Checking asks for a $500 daily balance only to avoid its monthly fee. Review Cash Rewards Checking, which also requires no minimum.

Cash Back Rewards Checking pays 10% cash back1 on up to $250 in qualifying debit card purchases each month. That's a maximum of $25 in monthly cash back1, or roughly $300 a year, for members at AACU. Rewards deposit on the last day of your statement cycle. Check your eligibility and open your account today.

Any debit card purchase counts toward your monthly total, since AACU places no category restrictions on qualifying transactions. Groceries, gas, dining, and online shopping all apply the same way. You'll need at least twelve qualifying purchases each statement cycle to trigger the reward. Compare Cash Back to Cash Rewards Checking before your first statement cycle.

AACU deposits your earned cash back on the last day of each monthly statement cycle, once your direct deposit, debit card purchases, and eStatement enrollment all post and clear. No manual claim or redemption step stands between you and your reward. Missed months simply reset without penalty. Check your eligibility and open an account today.

Cash back caps at $250 in monthly qualifying purchases1, which limits your reward to $25 per statement cycle. Purchases beyond that amount still count toward your account activity but stop earning cash back for the month. Most everyday spenders reach the cap comfortably. Compare this account to Cash Rewards Checking to see which fits better.

AACU requires twelve or more posted debit card purchases per monthly statement cycle to qualify for cash back rewards. You'll also need one direct deposit or automatic payment and eStatement enrollment during that same cycle. Meeting all three unlocks your reward automatically. Compare Cash Rewards Checking if you'd rather earn on your balance instead.

Cash Rewards Checking earns 1.25% APY1 on balances up to $15,000 once you meet monthly qualifications2 at AACU. Balances above that threshold earn 0.15% APY on the excess amount instead. Falling short of qualifications one month drops your rate to a 0.05% base APY. Check your eligibility and open your account this cycle.

The 1.25% APY1 tier applies only to balances up to $15,0002 in your Cash Rewards Checking account. Any amount above $15,000 shifts to a separate 0.15% APY tier, so larger balances still earn something. Most everyday checking balances stay comfortably within the top tier. Compare account tiers before you open an account.

Cash Rewards Checking pays a dividend rate on your balance, while Cash Back Rewards Checking pays a percentage back on debit spending instead. Members with a higher balance often prefer Cash Rewards; frequent debit users lean toward Cash Back. AACU lets you switch if habits change. Compare both checking accounts side by side.

Yes, one direct deposit or pre-authorized ACH payment counts as one of three monthly qualifications for the 1.25% APY1 rate. You'll also need twelve debit card purchases and eStatement enrollment during the same cycle. Skipping any requirement drops that month's rate to the base tier. Check your eligibility and set up direct deposit today.

Balances beyond $15,000 still earn dividends, at a lower 0.15% APY on the amount above that threshold. Your balance up to $15,000 keeps earning the full 1.25% APY separately. Both tiers combine into one blended rate on your statement. Compare Cash Back Rewards Checking if you'd rather earn on spending.
Basic Checking asks members to keep a $500 daily balance to avoid a $5 monthly service fee. Falling below that balance still keeps your account open, just with the fee applied that cycle. Many members find this easier than tracking spending qualifications. Check your eligibility and open your account today.

Basic Checking carries a $5 monthly fee only when your daily balance drops below $500. Members who maintain that balance pay no fee at all, alongside free eStatements, online banking, and a Visa® Debit Card. AACU designed this account for straightforward, low-maintenance banking. Compare fee details against AACU's rewards checking options.

Yes, AACU members can switch from Basic Checking to Cash Back Rewards or Cash Rewards Checking anytime their spending habits change. The switch happens through online banking or with help from a branch team member, without closing your existing account number in most cases. Compare rewards checking accounts before you upgrade.

Every Basic Checking account includes a free Visa® Debit Card with the same nationwide acceptance as the rewards checking accounts. You also get access to mobile deposit, bill pay, and budgeting tools through online banking at AACU. The only difference is the absence of a rewards structure. Compare all checking accounts before you open yours.

Basic Checking members reach the same network of over 35,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide as any other AACU checking account. Shared branching also extends access to thousands of additional locations across the country. Your account type never limits your ATM network at AACU. Find nearby locations and ATMs before you travel or relocate.

AACU members can hold multiple savings products at once, such as a Primary Savings Account alongside a Money Fund or Certificate. Each account serves a different goal, from everyday emergency funds to longer-term growth. Reverse Tier Savings Accounts are limited to one per social security.

A standard savings account offers steady access with a modest dividend rate, while a Money Fund rewards larger balances with higher returns and the same withdrawal flexibility. AACU members building a bigger cushion often move funds once their balance grows. Check your eligibility and ask about Money Fund options.

Opening a Primary Savings Account at AACU requires only a small initial deposit, since this account also establishes your membership share. Other savings products, like Certificates, may carry a higher minimum tied to the term you choose. Check opening deposit details before you apply online.
Yes, AACU savings accounts carry federal insurance through the NCUA, matching the protection FDIC insurance provides at banks. Coverage extends to at least $250,000 per depositor, per account type, backed by the full faith of the U.S. government. Your savings stay protected the same way. Check your eligibility and open a savings account with confidence.

AACU calculates and pays dividends on most savings accounts monthly, based on your average daily balance during the statement cycle. Reverse Tier Savings and Certificates follow the same monthly dividend schedule, though rates vary by product and balance tier. Review Primary Savings to see where your membership starts.

A primary savings account at AACU opens with a small initial deposit, since this account represents your membership share rather than a large balance requirement. Most new members fund it alongside a checking account or loan application in the same session. Check your eligibility and open your account online.

Yes, a primary savings account functions as a membership share account, the same product opened automatically for every new member. It establishes your ownership stake in the credit union rather than serving as a standalone savings goal. Additional savings products cover other goals separately. Compare other savings accounts once your membership is active.

Yes, your primary savings balance earns a dividend rate at AACU, calculated on your average daily balance each statement cycle. The rate is modest compared to Reverse Tier Savings or a Money Fund, since this account's main purpose is establishing membership. Review current savings rates for all AACU accounts.

Yes, members may link a savings account to checking so available funds automatically transfer to cover a shortfall before the checking account is overdrawn. Open a checking account, then contact us at 719.593.8600 or visit a branch to link an eligible savings account.

No monthly service fees when you choose to enroll in free eStatements. Check your eligibility and start your membership today.

Reverse Tier Savings flips the usual rate structure, so your first $2,000 earns the highest rate at 6.50% APY1 instead of requiring a large balance first. A regular savings account pays one flat rate regardless of balance size. AACU built this account for members just getting started. Check your eligibility and open your account today.

Your first $2,000 in a Reverse Tier Savings account earns a top rate of 6.50% APY1 at AACU. Balances between $2,000.01 and $5,000 earn 1.25% APY1, with lower tiers applying as your balance grows further. The blended rate combines all applicable tiers on your statement. Compare all AACU savings accounts to see how this rate stacks up.

Yes, many members use Reverse Tier Savings specifically for a starter emergency fund, since the account rewards the first $2,000 saved most heavily. No minimum balance or monthly fee stands in the way of building that cushion. Check your eligibility and start your emergency fund today.

Once your balance passes $2,000, AACU applies a stepped-down rate: 1.25% APY1 up to $5,000, 0.25% APY1 up to $10,000, and lower tiers beyond that. Each tier's rate applies only to the portion of your balance within that range. Compare Basic Savings instead if you prefer a flat rate.

No, Reverse Tier Savings opens independently and doesn't require a linked checking account at AACU, though many members pair the two for easier transfers. You will need an active AACU membership through a Primary Savings Account first. Check your eligibility before applying for Reverse Tier Savings.
Your Saver account rate depends on activity inside your linked Cash Rewards or Cash Back Rewards Checking account, not the Saver account itself. Post one direct deposit, twelve debit card purchases, and enroll in eStatements each cycle. Compare Cash Rewards Checking to see which pairs best with your Saver account.

Twelve debit card purchases posted and cleared in your linked checking account each monthly cycle keep your Saver account earning 0.75% APY1 at AACU. Missing that count for a month simply drops your rate until the next cycle. Open a Cash Back Rewards Checking account to start building toward that count.

Saver balances above $50,000 earn 0.15% APY1 instead of the 0.75% top-tier rate at AACU. Balances up to $50,0002 keep earning the higher rate as long as you meet monthly checking qualifications. Compare this to Reverse Tier Savings if you're building a smaller balance instead.

A Saver account at AACU requires an active Cash Rewards or Cash Back Rewards Checking account, since its rate depends entirely on that account's monthly activity. Check your eligibility and pair the two accounts together.

AACU reviews and posts the Saver account's Annual Percentage Yield monthly, tied to the credit union's last dividend declaration date. Your qualifying rate applies for that statement cycle based on your linked checking activity. Check your eligibility and open your Saver account online today.
AACU requires a $500 minimum deposit to open and start earning dividends on a certificate of deposit or an IRA certificate. Your rate locks in at the term you choose the moment your account is funded. Check your eligibility and open a certificate with that minimum today.
Early withdrawal penalties apply when you pull funds from an AACU certificate before its term ends, which can reduce the dividends you've earned. Planning around your term length helps you avoid that reduction entirely. Compare Money Fund Savings if you'd rather keep funds fully liquid.
Dividends on an AACU certificate accrue once your account opening paperwork is signed, received, and the account is funded. Payout follows the fixed rate locked in for your chosen term, with no fluctuation until maturity. Check your eligibility and start earning a locked-in rate today.
AACU members can open an IRA certificate carrying the same $500 minimum deposit and term structure as a standard certificate, while sitting inside a retirement account. Review Individual Retirement Accounts to see how an IRA certificate fits your retirement plan.
Longer terms generally earn higher dividend rates at AACU, though the exact rate varies by term length and current market conditions. A 12 to 17 month term often balances a strong rate with reasonable access to your funds. Check your eligibility and compare current term rates before you open one.

Your school district automatically receives a bonus whenever you open a qualifying account through this program, alongside your own personal bonus. Checking, mortgage, and auto loan products each carry a separate district bonus amount. Check your eligibility before opening an account.

A Money Fund account at AACU, pays tiered dividend rates that increase as your balance grows, while still allowing deposits and withdrawals anytime. A $1,000 minimum balance is required to start earning dividends. Check your eligibility and open a Money Fund account today.

A Money Fund account at AACU offers the same withdrawal flexibility as a standard savings account, without the multi-month lock-in of a certificate. Members can move funds in or out as their needs change throughout the month. Compare Certificates of Deposit if you'd rather lock in a fixed rate instead.

A $1,000 minimum balance is required to earn dividends on an AACU Money Fund account, with tiered rates climbing at higher balance thresholds. Balances below that minimum can still sit in the account without earning a dividend. Check your eligibility and fund your account to start earning.

A Money Fund account at AACU carries the same NCUA federal insurance as every other deposit account, covering at least $250,000 per depositor, per account type. Your balance stays protected the same way a standard savings account would be. Review Basic Savings to compare insured account options.

A Money Fund account keeps your balance liquid with no fixed term, while a certificate of deposit locks your rate and funds for a set period at AACU. Money Fund rates adjust with tiers; certificate rates stay fixed for the full term. Compare Certificates of Deposit to weigh both options.

Members mention promo code PGP100 at the time of application for checking, mortgage, or auto loan products under this program. Existing members must mention the code when opening a new qualifying account or loan. Compare Auto Loans before applying with this code.

Eligibility for an HSA depends on enrollment in a qualifying high-deductible health plan, not directly on your AACU membership status. Once you confirm plan eligibility, AACU members can open an HSA at any branch or online. Check your eligibility for membership before opening your HSA.
HSA funds at AACU typically cover doctor appointments, prescriptions, and many over-the-counter medical costs not paid by insurance. A tax advisor can confirm which specific expenses qualify for your situation. Review Individual Retirement Accounts if you're also planning for long-term savings.

Opening a qualifying Rewards Checking account earns you a $250 bonus, while your school district automatically receives a $125 bonus upon your new account opening. Compare Cash Back Rewards Checking to choose your account today.

HSA contributions generally offer tax advantages, though the exact deduction depends on your individual tax situation and IRS contribution limits for the year. A tax professional can walk you through your specific eligibility. Check your eligibility and open an HSA once you've confirmed your plan qualifies.

A high-deductible health plan is required to open and contribute to an HSA, since the account exists specifically to offset that plan's higher out-of-pocket costs. An HSA pairs with any qualifying plan you already carry. Open an HSA online through Retirement Central once you confirm eligibility.

No expiration policy applies to AACU HSA funds, so any balance left at year end simply rolls forward and keeps earning dividends. This differs from some employer-sponsored flexible spending accounts that require annual use. Check your eligibility and open your HSA with no use-it-or-lose-it pressure.

No the mortgage bonus applies only to a new 30-year first mortgage that closes and funds under this program. Existing 30-year mortgages don't qualify for the bonus. Compare Home Loans for AACU's full mortgage lineup.

The $300 member bonus and $150 district bonus post automatically once a new or refinanced auto loan closes and funds under this program. No separate claim step is required. Compare Auto Loans to see current rates.

A Traditional IRA grows tax-deferred, so you pay taxes on withdrawals in retirement, while a Roth IRA uses after-tax contributions for tax-free withdrawals later. Your current versus expected future tax bracket usually guides the choice.

IRA contribution limits are set annually by the IRS and apply the same way across Traditional and Roth IRAs. A tax advisor or Retirement Central representative can confirm the current year's limit for your situation. Review Certificates of Deposit for another fixed-rate savings option.

An IRA certificate at AACU locks in a fixed dividend rate for terms up to 60 months, layering guaranteed growth on top of your retirement account's tax advantages. A $500 minimum deposit applies, matching standard certificates.

IRA withdrawal rules, including penalty-free ages and required minimum distributions, are set by the IRS and apply regardless of where your account is held. Retirement Central resources can walk you through your specific timeline.

Members can roll over funds from a previous employer's retirement plan or another IRA into a new IRA through Retirement Central, keeping the tax-deferred or tax-free status intact. Retirement Central handles the transfer process directly.

New AACU Visa Debit Cards activate through online banking, the mobile app, or by calling the number on the card's activation sticker. Members converting from the previous Mastercard should destroy the old card once the new one is active. Check your eligibility if you don't yet have an AACU checking account.

Your Visa Debit Card adds to Apple Pay™, Google Wallet™, or Samsung Pay™ in a few minutes through your phone's wallet app. Card information stays encrypted and isn't stored directly on the device. Review Cash Back Rewards Checking if you're opening a new account to pair with your card.

AACU switched debit card providers from Mastercard to Visa, retiring the previous Debit Mastercard and issuing new Visa-branded cards with updated designs and card controls. Members needed to activate the new card and update any automatic payments tied to the old number. Check your eligibility if you're opening your first AACU account.
Lock your card instantly through online or mobile banking, or call AACU directly to report a lost or stolen Visa Debit Card. Zero Liability protection means you won't be responsible for unauthorized transactions reported promptly. Review Basic Checking if you're considering a new account with this same card protection.
Daily spending and withdrawal limits apply to every AACU Visa Debit Card and can typically be adjusted through online banking's card control features. Members can also lock and unlock their card instantly from the same app. Check your eligibility and request your Visa Debit Card with a new account.

AACU offers a 30- year fixed-rate, first-time homebuyer program, adjustable-rate, VA, FHA, jumbo, and reverse mortgage options, plus a Swing Loan for buyers who need to purchase before selling. Each loan type suits a different budget or timeline. Compare VA Loans if you qualify for military benefits.

The AACU mortgage lineup focuses on competitive rates and flexible terms rather than a separate rewards program tied to opening a home loan. Members instead benefit from local loan officers guiding the full process. Check your eligibility before starting a mortgage application.

Pre-qualification starts with a short online application or a conversation with an AACU mortgage loan officer about your income, credit, and target purchase price. Most applicants get an answer within a few business days. Compare Adjustable-Rate Mortgages if a lower initial payment interests you.
Many AACU mortgages remain locally serviced, keeping your point of contact close to home rather than routed through a distant national servicer. Details vary by loan type and program requirements. Compare Swing Loans if you're managing a home sale alongside your purchase.
Beyond a standard fixed-rate mortgage, AACU offers adjustable-rate loans, VA loans for military members, a Swing Loan for overlapping moves, and reverse mortgages for members in retirement. Compare VA Loans to see if military benefits apply to your purchase.

Open a new Cash Back Rewards or Cash Rewards Checking account with a $200 deposit, then complete one debit card transaction and one qualifying direct deposit within 45 days. Mention the promo code at account opening. Check your eligibility before applying for this offer.

RMHCS employees mention promo code NEWCHK25 when opening a brand new Rewards Checking account, whether applying online or in person at any AACU branch location. Compare Cash Rewards Checking before you apply for this offer.

Yes qualifying RMHCS employees can also receive a rate reduction on a first mortgage purchase or refinance, on top of the checking account bonus. Talk to a Mortgage Loan Officer about current rate reduction terms.

Qualifying RMHCS employees can receive twelve full months of interest refunded on a new personal loan, deposited straight into savings after the twelfth on-time monthly payment posts. Compare Personal Loans for current rates and terms.

The RMHCS bonus applies to new Rewards Checking accounts only, and isn't available to current Rewards Checking holders or members who closed an account within the past 180 days. Compare Basic Checking if you already hold a Rewards Checking account.

A Swing Loan lets you buy a new home using your current home's equity as collateral, before your current property sells. AACU combines both properties into one loan, giving you up to 12 months to complete the sale. Compare standard Fixed-Rate Mortgages alongside this bridge option.
AACU gives Swing Loan borrowers up to 12 months to sell their current home after closing on the new purchase. Proceeds from that sale then pay down the combined loan balance. Check your eligibility before applying for this timeline.
A Swing Loan avoids private mortgage insurance by using your existing home's equity as collateral instead of a smaller down payment on the new purchase. That collateral arrangement is what keeps PMI off the loan. Compare Adjustable-Rate Mortgages for another loan structure without a rushed sale timeline.
AACU works directly with Swing Loan borrowers whose home hasn't sold within the 12-month window, since both properties already secure the combined loan. Reach out to a mortgage loan officer well before that deadline approaches. Check your eligibility before starting a Swing Loan application.

A Swing Loan functions as a bridge loan, using two properties as combined collateral so you can buy before selling. The terms differ by lender, but the core structure matches what's commonly called bridge financing elsewhere. Compare VA Loans if military benefits also apply to your purchase.

An AACU ARM holds a fixed rate for an initial 5 or 7-year term, then adjusts periodically based on the SOFR index plus a set margin. Rate caps limit how much the payment can move at each adjustment. Compare a 30-year Fixed-Rate Mortgage if steady payments matter more to you.
SOFR, the Secured Overnight Financing Rate, measures the cost of borrowing cash overnight collateralized by Treasury securities, published by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. AACU adds a fixed margin to this index at each rate adjustment. Check your eligibility before applying for an ARM.
Your AACU ARM rate stays fixed through the initial 5 or 7-year term you select at closing, then adjusts on a set schedule afterward, often every six months. The exact interval depends on your loan's specific terms. Compare VA Loans if you qualify for military benefits instead.
An ARM often suits buyers planning to sell or refinance before the initial fixed term ends, since the lower introductory rate saves money during those early years. Staying past that term means facing market-based adjustments. Compare a Swing Loan if timing a sale alongside your next purchase matters too.
Once the initial 5 or 7-year term ends, your AACU ARM payment adjusts based on the current SOFR index plus your margin, within the caps set at closing. Rate caps limit both single adjustments and lifetime movement. Check your eligibility before locking in your ARM's initial term.

VA loan eligibility generally requires qualifying military service, whether active-duty, veteran, or certain surviving spouses, as determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The mortgage team can confirm your specific eligibility before you apply. Check your eligibility for AACU membership alongside your VA loan.

Most qualifying VA loans at AACU require no down payment, a key advantage over conventional financing that typically demands one. Loans above the conforming limit may still require some down payment. Compare a Swing Loan if you're also selling a current home.
A VA IRRRL, or Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan, lets AACU members refinance an existing VA loan into a lower rate with reduced documentation compared to a standard refinance. It's built specifically for borrowers who already hold a VA loan. Check your eligibility before starting an IRRRL application.
VA loan credit guidelines at AACU tend to run more flexible than conventional loan requirements, reflecting the program's federal backing for military borrowers. Exact requirements still depend on your full financial picture. Compare an Adjustable-Rate Mortgage if a VA loan isn't the right fit.
VA loans through AACU can reach up to $1 million in some cases, though loans above the standard conforming limit may require a down payment depending on your entitlement. A mortgage loan officer can confirm your specific maximum. Check your eligibility and speak with a VA loan specialist today.

Refinancing typically makes sense when current rates sit meaningfully below your existing mortgage rate, or when you need to access home equity for a large expense. The AACU team can run the numbers against your specific loan. Compare Home Equity Loans if you only need to borrow a smaller amount instead.

Refinance closing costs generally run a percentage of your loan amount, covering appraisal, origination, and title fees. AACU discloses these costs upfront so you can calculate your break-even point before committing. Compare a Swing Loan if you're managing a home sale at the same time.
A cash-out refinance lets you roll higher-interest debt into your mortgage at a potentially lower rate, consolidating multiple payments into one. This works best when the new mortgage rate beats your current debt's interest rate. Compare Personal Loans for smaller debt consolidation needs instead.
Savings from refinancing depend on your current rate, new rate, remaining loan balance, and closing costs, all of which a mortgage loan officer can calculate together. Even a small rate reduction can add up significantly over a 30-year term. Check your eligibility before starting a refinance application.
Most refinances require a new home appraisal to confirm current market value, which factors into your loan-to-value ratio and available terms. Certain streamline programs may waive this requirement depending on loan type. Compare VA Loans if a VA IRRRL refinance fits your situation better.
A reverse mortgage requires no monthly mortgage payments, though you remain responsible for property taxes, insurance, and home maintenance. Interest accrues on the loan balance over time instead of being paid monthly. Compare Home Equity Loans if you'd rather access equity with regular payments.
You keep ownership of your home throughout a reverse mortgage, as long as you live there as your primary residence and meet loan obligations. The loan becomes due only when you sell, move out, or pass away. Check your eligibility for AACU membership before applying.
The reverse mortgage balance becomes due when the last borrower passes away, sells the home, or permanently moves out. Heirs typically repay the loan through home sale proceeds or other funds to keep the property. Compare Personal Loans for shorter-term borrowing needs instead.
Property taxes, homeowner's insurance, and home maintenance remain your responsibility throughout a reverse mortgage, since AACU's program doesn't establish an escrow account for these payments. A set-aside account may be required in some cases. Talk to a Mortgage Loan Officer about your specific situation.
Reverse mortgage loan programs available through AACU are provided by Finance of America Reverse LLC, a third-party lender, rather than AACU directly. Terms and eligibility follow that provider's guidelines. Check your eligibility for AACU membership before requesting more information.

The First-Time Homebuyer Program offers down payment options of 1%, 2%, or 3% of the purchase price, with no mortgage insurance required regardless of which tier you choose. A qualifying rewards checking account with direct deposit is required. Compare Home Loans for our full mortgage lineup.

Yes. You must be a first-time homebuyer to qualify for this program. Additional eligibility requirements, including credit qualifications and down payment criteria, also apply. An AACU mortgage loan officer can help you review the requirements and determine if this program is right for you. Check your eligibility for AACU membership before applying.

Closing costs vary by loan amount and typically run a percentage of your purchase price, separate from your down payment. Attending a First-Time Homebuyer workshop can reduce these costs by $1,000 or lower your rate instead. Talk to a Mortgage Loan Officer for a specific closing cost estimate.

Whether renting or buying makes more financial sense depends on how long you plan to stay, local market conditions, and your monthly budget compared to a mortgage payment. The mortgage calculator and loan officers can help you compare both paths. Talk to a Mortgage Loan Officer to run your specific numbers.

No mortgage insurance applies to the First-Time Homebuyer Program, even at the lowest 1% down payment tier, which sets it apart from many conventional low-down-payment loans. This can meaningfully lower your monthly payment. Compare Home Equity Loans if you already own and want to tap equity instead.

A HELOC can supply funds toward a down payment on another property, since it draws against your current home's equity rather than tying to a specific purchase. Lenders on the new purchase will still evaluate your full debt load. Compare a cash-out Refinance as an alternative way to access equity.

A HELOC includes a 10-year advance period followed by a 10-year repayment period, during which you pay down both principal and interest. Extra payments during the advance period can reduce your balance faster. Compare Personal Loans if a fixed repayment schedule fits your budget better.

AACU members commonly use home equity for renovations, debt consolidation, education costs, or major purchases through a HELOC or fixed-rate second mortgage. The best structure depends on whether you need ongoing access or a lump sum. Talk to a Mortgage Loan Officer to compare both options.

Monthly HELOC payments during the advance period equal the greater of $50 or accrued finance charges, then shift to principal-and-interest payments during the 10-year repayment period. Your specific payment depends on your balance and rate. Compare Home Loans for other AACU financing options.

A promotional HELOC rate requires opening a Cash Rewards or Cash Back Rewards Checking account with a qualifying recurring direct deposit. Without that account, the standard variable rate applies instead. Compare Cash Rewards Checking to see if you qualify for the promotional rate.

Open a new Cash Back Rewards or Cash Rewards Checking account with a $200 deposit, then complete one debit card transaction and one qualifying direct deposit within 45 days. Mention the promo code at account opening. Check your eligibility before applying for this offer.

AACU offers auto loans, personal loans, a Smart Solution Loan, lines of credit, and credit cards, alongside its separate home loan lineup. Each product suits a different borrowing need and repayment timeline. Compare Personal Loans if you need funds for a specific expense.
A personal loan suits a one-time expense with a fixed payoff timeline, while a credit card fits ongoing or unpredictable spending you plan to pay down over time. Interest rates and repayment structure differ meaningfully between the two. Compare Auto Loans if your borrowing need is vehicle-specific instead.
Most AACU loan types, including personal loans, auto loans, and lines of credit, offer a full online application. Some products still allow phone or branch applications for members who prefer that route. Check your eligibility before submitting any loan application.

AACU offers additional vehicle and loan protection coverage to help guard your investment against life's unexpected curveballs, available through the Protect Your Investment program.
A Share Secured Loan lets you borrow against funds already sitting in your AACU savings account, using that balance as collateral. This typically unlocks a lower rate than an unsecured signature loan. Compare Certificates of Deposit if you'd rather grow that balance instead of borrowing against it.
A Personal Signature Loan works well for consolidating higher-interest debt into one fixed monthly payment at AACU. Rates start as low as 9.99% APR depending on creditworthiness and term. Compare a Cash-Out Refinance if you own a home and prefer to consolidate through your mortgage instead.
A Signature Loan delivers funds in one lump sum with a fixed payoff schedule, while a Line of Credit stays open for repeated borrowing up to your limit as needs arise. Line of Credit rates start around 14.00% APR at AACU. Compare Share Secured Loans if you'd rather borrow against savings for a lower rate.
Yes an AACU Line of Credit can attach directly to your checking account as overdraft protection, covering shortfalls automatically instead of triggering a fee. This adds a second use case beyond standalone borrowing. Compare Basic Checking to see which account pairs well with this protection.

AACU Skip-A-Pay program lets members skip one monthly payment on an existing consumer loan for a $35 fee, adding that payment to the end of the loan term. Real estate loans, Smart Solution Loans, and credit cards don't qualify. Check your eligibility before applying for a personal loan.

Smart Solution Loan carries a lower interest rate and a longer repayment term than a typical payday loan, plus no credit check requirement. AACU designed it as a member-focused alternative rather than a profit-driven short-term lender. Compare Personal Loans if you need a larger amount instead.
AACU caps the Smart Solution Loan at $300 for your first three advances, with monthly payments around $153.38 due at 30 and 60 days. No additional advance is issued until the previous one is paid in full. Check your eligibility before applying for this loan.

Round Up is a free feature that rounds qualifying debit card purchases to the next whole dollar. The difference is transferred from your enrolled checking account to an eligible savings account you choose or to Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation.

No. There's no participation fee to use Round Up.

You can enroll one eligible checking account in Round Up at a time.

You can choose one eligible savings account or Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation to receive your Round Up transfers.

Yes. Choose Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation as your Round Up destination instead of an eligible savings account.

It depends on how often you make qualifying debit card purchases and the amount of each Round Up. Every qualifying purchase can create another small transfer, giving those amounts the chance to build over time.

Each Round Up amount is transferred from the checking account you enrolled in the feature.

How do I enroll?

Enrolling in Round Up is just a few steps:

  • Sign in to Online Banking.
  • Under Transfers and Payments, select Round Up Enrollment
  • Choose the checking account connected to the debit card you want to enroll
  • Choose where you'd like your Round Up transfer to go: an eligible savings account or Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation.

In online banking, return to your Round Up settings. Leave the "Send round ups to" field blank and submit your changes to remove the enrollment.
